Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) is a condition characterized by abnormal function in the nerves of the mouth. The symptoms worsen with age, and it is most common among women and men between the ages of 60 and 69 years old. Unfortunately, the exact cause of BMS remains unknown. Individuals experiencing BMS often report ongoing symptoms that can last for years. In addition to pain, they may also experience numbness and tingling in the tongue and mouth, as well as changes in taste.
